Nucleic acid & amino acid
Nucleic acid sequences or amino acid sequences can be searched on the Orbit Biosequence (OBS) platform. Three types of searches are available:
- “Standard” sequence search for sequences that are ~100 or more nucleotides long or that are ~30 or more amino acid long.
- This search uses the latest version of the NCBI-BLAST algorithm (v2.7.1+).
- “Short” sequence search for sequences that are less than 100 nucleotides long or that are less than 30 amino acid long.
- This search uses the latest version of the NCBI-BLAST algorithm (v2.7.1+), which is adapted to the short sequences when the “short input sequences” box is checked.

MOTIF search
"MOTIF" search to search for a specific pattern or profile within a sequence. See our dedicated article
CDR antibodies search
A new antibody search page has been added to OBS. It allows users to simply search with ease for the multiple sequences of an antibody. Antibodies are generally searched based on their heavy (VH), light (VL) chains as well as their CDRs (1 to 6).
